i think you need to find something that interests you. A hobby, a club, whatever! that way, you might find some meaning to your life and start feeling the need to contribute! I'm glad you at least recognize that you have a problem!

You should probably divorce your wife or at least tell her you want to do this. It is kinda a hypocrisy. Get some marriage counseling.

It's a start.  If you're over-weight, it might be time to do some exercising too.  Try adkins for a month, that will burn off a shit-load of fat...and after 30 days get to eating healthy and moderately working out...Im trying to do the same.

You'll have to be blunt with her I'm afraid.  Lay around the house one Saturday or Sunday afternoon and wait for her to suggest something...and when she does...seem mildly interested and reply with a "You buyin?  I'll go if you are..."
 
She won't take it hard...some chicks just need a little reminder that love is a two way bill of misery.

don't worry about.  I have two kids and constantly wonder why I chose to have them.  they are 5 and 2.  They talk all your money and time and give nothing in return.  All this talk about "oh kids the enrich your life so much", "kids make you see life at a new level" yeah...the level of wanting to bash your head into a wall constantly.
 
If you don't have kids, please for the love of God don't have them. If you enjoy your life now...just don't do it.
