It's foolish to be proud of something you had no control over
I think it is funny how some people are proud to be gay, proud to be a specific race, proud to be a specific gender. Why are people proud to be something they didn't choose or work for? If I do something great, Yes, I would be proud, but I am not proud of something I had no control over.

I think when people say they are proud of those things its because they have had it rough and despite all the animosity they have had directed towards them they are still going strong. They are proud of overcoming obstacles based on those characteristics not the characteristics themselves.

They want to be noticed, plain and simple. Since gays are inferior to us normal people they have to make noise to be accepted. They will NEVER be accepted as a "normal" part of society. They will always be outcasts.
