Smoking
I've been smoking weed for over 7 years now on an almost daily basis. I know it replaces other parts of life that I am not happy with and cannot change. I try to stop every day, thinking I can do it but so far, 7 years later, I'm still smoking.

I smoked in the same way for about 6 years, so I know what you are going through.
1. If you smoke weed with tobacco but don't smoke cigarettes on their own, then begin to smoke cigarettes. You can deal with this addiction later (it's probably best dealing with one addiction at a time). For me, this realization was key to removing the weed, it took some more time to eventually get rid of the cigarettes! If you are American this probably doesn't apply, but in England it's common to smoke weed with tobacco.
2. When do you smoke? If you light up straight away in the morning, try waiting longer and longer periods before you smoke.
3. If you are unhappy, then I found in me that the weed was partially responsible for that. Reducing the amount or stopping smoking will help, but I found that it took a month or two before my brain caught up! Then you can look at the other parts of your life you want to work on. To make this happen you need to be persistent and even if you slip you'll benefit by trying again and again until you succeed.
4. Friends. Well this can be tough, a lot of my smoking was with a group of friends. If you want to give up, you will need to spend less time with weed smoking friends.
5. Let yourself run out of weed. See how long you can go without buying any. The longer you last the better. If you do buy, then try to buy smaller amounts, this way you gradually spend less and less time smoking weed.
6. Find other things to do! Play games, read books, watch films or whatever if you prefer solitude. If you are sociable find friends you can relax with who do not smoke weed.
Good luck!
